HOSPITALITY SECTOR PROGRAMMEs FOR IMPLEMENTATION UNDER THE SCHEME OF“CAPACITY BUILDING FOR SERVICE “

As part of the Suo-Motu initiatives of the Ministry of Tourism under the Scheme of “Capacity Building for Service Providers”, it was decided to provide financial assistance to Govt. sponsored Tourism & Hospitality Institutes, Private Tourism/Hospitality Institutes, State Tourism Development Corporations and State Governments etc. to conduct Skill Development Programmes to be called “HUNAR SE ROZGAR” or its verticals. The programme was aimed at targeting persons with not much means and in need to acquire skills facilitative to employment. The implementation of the programme was subject to certain administrative and financial Guidelines. In order to bring about uniformity and standardization in the implementation of various Skill Development Schemes by different Central Ministries/Departments, the Govt. of India has decided to bring all the schemes/programmes relating to skill development activities within the Common Norms notified by the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship with the approval of the Ministry of Finance. The Ministry of Tourism has accordingly resolved to effect full transition to these norms with effect from 1st April, 2016 as per the Cabinet decision.

National Digital literacy Mission

It is one of the primary factors that can boost the economic growth of India. Therefore, Digital India is an initiative by the Government of India, which aims at enhancing technical literacy and ensuring internet connectivity to all.

Under Digital India, National Digital Literacy Mission (NDLM) is a campaign that aims to digitally educate at least one member of every family in rural areas. It is formulated to provide IT training to 52.5 lakh individuals, including villagers, Anganwadi and ASHA workers, and ration shop dealers.

Important features of the National Digital Literacy Mission are as follows-

  • It acts as a full-fledged knowledge centre for providing supplementary education and technical literacy.
  • The National Digital Literacy Mission aims to create a better socio-economic ecosystem, especially in rural areas.
  • Through the curriculum, it aims to develop skills and help the youth to think critically.
  • One of its special segments is to educate women on secondary skills and empower them with enhanced technical skills.
    • It offers tools for digital security and literacy.

    Moreover, the project has adopted some sub-projects for skill development, employment and training of rural women.

About PMKVY 3.0

With an aim to empower  youth and continue the journey of Skill India Mission in building as the skill capital of the world, the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) launched the third phase of its flagship scheme — Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY 3.0) on 15 January 2021. PMKVY 3.0 will encourage and promote skill development throughout the country to address industry needs, meet market demands and impart skills in services and in new-age job roles that have become crucial with the advent of COVID-19 pandemic. Incorporating the learnings from PMKVY 1.0 and PMKVY 2.0, PMKVY 3.0 will be implemented in a more decentralised structure with greater responsibilities and support from States/UTs and Districts. District Skill Committees (DSCs), under the guidance of State Skill Development Missions (SSDM), shall play a key role in addressing the skill gap and assessing demand at the district level. The new scheme will be more trainee and learner centric addressing the ambitions of Atmanirbhar Bharat.

Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) is the flagship scheme of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) implemented by National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC). The objective of this Skill Certification scheme is to enable Indian youth to take up industry relevant skill training that will help them in securing a better livelihood. Individuals with prior experience are also assessed and certified under Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).

Van Bandhu Kalyan Yojna

The Government of India, Ministry of Tribal Affairs has launched Vanbandhu Kalyan Yojana (VKY) for welfare of Tribals. VKY aims at creating enabling environment for need based and outcome oriented holistic development of the tribal people. This process envisages to ensure that all the intended benefits of goods and services under various programmes/schemes of Central as well as State Governments actually reach the target groups by convergence of resources through appropriate institutional mechanism.

It covers all tribal people and all areas with tribal population across the country.

 

We have been working in it in Godda district in Bawarijor and Sunder Pahari Block.

Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana-National Urban Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NULM)

To reduce poverty and vulnerability of the urban poor households by enabling them to access gainful self employment and skilled wage employment opportunities,resulting in an appreciable improvement in their livelihoods on a sustainable basis,through building strong grassroots level institutions of the poor.The mission would aim at providing shelters equipped with essential services to the urban homeless in a phased manner.In addition,the mission would also address livelihood concerns of the urban street vendors by facilitating access to suitable spaces,institutional credit, social security and skills to the urban street vendors for accessing emerging market opportunities.

NITDT has successfully completed this training program in three phases in these districts
